A substantial haul of drugs was seized last week in Portlaoise following a short road chase, according to the gardaí.
Cannabis herb, cocaine and ecstasy were among the haul discovered in a car in the Tower Hill area of Portlaoise town, at around 10pm on the night of Monday, August 18.
A garda spokesperson told the Leinster Express that members of the Portlaoise detective branch engaged in a short pursuit with the driver of the car before it was stopped at Tower Hill and searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
The spokesperson has confirmed that the amount of drugs located in the car was “substantial for this area”.
A 29-year-old male foreign national was arrested and brought to Portlaoise Garda Station. He has since been released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
