Bridal Walk ‘no man’s land’

Action is needed on the taking in charge of Bridle Walk, Kilminchy, according to Portlaoise Town Councillor Jerry Lodge.

At an area meeting recently in County Hall, Cllr Lodge called on Laois County Council to take the area in charge, as it is currently “in no man’s land”.

He was informed in a written reply from Ms Angela McEvoy, planning department, that the planning section will liaise with the roads section in this regard.

“What does that mean? Liaise just means to talk,” retorted Cllr Lodge. “It actually takes action. What specific actions are they taking?”

Cllr Willie Aird remarked that as there is nothing wrong with Bridal Walk, it should be easy for the council to take it in charge.

“It’s a relatively new estate, it’s completed and there’s no money required, it should be taken over,” he said.

“Nobody cares at the moment,” added Cllr Lodge.
