A Camross man who panicked when he saw the gardaí and ran away from them was given the benefit of the probation act at last week’s court.
Kevin Dunne, Potters Hill, Derrylahan, Camross, was charged with obstruction and threatening behaviour, at Main Street, Portlaoise, on February 16.
Inspector Declan Dunne said that when gardaí informed the defendant he would be searched, he ran away.
Defence, Ms Josephine Fitzpatrick said it “may have been panic” which led him to run away on the night.
Judge Catherine Staines ruled that as he had no previous convictions, she would apply the probation act.
