Chemists not linked to problems

Read at Mountmellick Town Council monthly meeting on Thursday night was the following letter from McElwee Pharmacy with local addresses at O’Connell Square and the Davitt Shopping Centre, Connolly Street, and with a Portlaoise address at the Cedar Clinic:

“We, McElwee Pharmacy, would like to confirm that we dispense Methadone as per our GMS contract with the HSE.

“We confirm that we have several patients who are long term residents of the town of Mountmellick and well established on the programme.

“We do not have any new patients who may or may not be connected with recent unsettled activity in the town.

“We would furthermore like to reaffirm our commitment to our current patients as per duty of care to long term residents of the town.

“We lay high importance on our goodwill and esteem within the town and we reserve our right to take action against anyone who should seek to slight, defame and/or libel our good name.”

Signatories of the letter were Peter J McElwee, Superintendent Pharmacist, Managing Director, McElwee Pharmacies, and James F D McElwee, Business Manager, Solicitor, McElwee Pharmacies.
