A drink driver who was seen swerving across the white line by gardaí has been fined and disqualified from driving.
Con Oxley, Oldtown, Cullahill, Durrow, was seen by an off-duty garda at Main Street, Mountmellick, on January 26 this year. Inspector Aidan Farrelly gave evidence that on numerous occasions Oxley swerved across the white line. He was stopped at Mountrath and arrested, and a breath sample revealed 76mg per 100ml of breath.
Defence, Ms Josephine Fitzpatrick said Oxley had been driving from Borris in Ossory to Mountrath, when he stopped and had two drinks.
“He felt he was okay to continue,” said Ms Fitzpatrick, asking Judge Catherine Staines to postpone Oxley’s disqualification as he has medical appointments.
Oxley was fined €300 and disqualified from driving for three years.
