A Portlaoise man who was fighting bare-chested in the street during a family altercation was last week ordered to complete an alcohol awareness course.
Before the district court was Thomas McInerney, with an address at 57 DeVesci Court, Fairgreen, Portlaoise, charged with violent disorder at Market Square, Portlaoise, on February 19, 2012.
Inspector Declan Dunne gave evidence that McInerney was with family members on the night and was fighting in the street bare-chested.
He has previous convictions, including theft and road traffic matters.
Defence solicitor, Mr Farrelly explained that it was an incident between family members and drink had been taken.
McInerney was ordered to complete the Athy Alternative Project and the matter was put back to June 5.
