Hedges cash hinges on safety

Hedges on private property will have to be proved unsafe if the council is to get money to remove them.

Remove hedge from Sean Hughes’ entrance at Tinnahinch, Rosenallis, and replace with fencing to improve visibility, proposed Cllr David Goodwin at the meeting this month of Mountmellick area county councillors.

Senior Executive Engineer Brenda Cuddy said the hedge was on private property and there was no funding to replace it. She would refer the issue to the Council road design section with a view to getting finance through a safety scheme, she added.
