“Items” were being removed from graves in St Joseph’s Cemetery, Cllr Bobby Delaney told Mountmellck Town Council monthly meeting last Wednesday night.
In one instance, several things that parents had put on a young person’s grave were taken, he revealed.
He added: “It’s an ongoing issue. Week by week items are being removed.”
Chairman Paddy Bracken said the cemetery committee had no role in the issue. “The Co Council will deal with it.”
Cllr Denis O’Mara said the thefts as “very sad.”
Cllr Stephen Lynch: “We should look into it and try and get cameras or something.”
Cllr Delaney also urged people to be careful not to leave objects visible in their cars when parking at the cemetery.
