May Bush fun at Bealtine

On this Sunday, April 27, the Slieve Bloom Association is reviving the ancient Bealtine Festival, commencing with the planting of a May Bush in the grounds of Kinnity Castle at 2pm.

Come and join the second year of the revival of this ancient festival. The Association’s chairman, John Rigney will open the proceedings and introduce Fiona Foynes, guest speaker. Fiona will talk about the customs and traditions associated with the Festival of Bealtine. Miss Macra International, Ms Emma Goulding is going to be there also.

Further entertainment will be provided by Mountmellick Comhaltas, Leona’s School of Dancing and the Amarillo Trio.

This is a free event and all are welcome to what is a family afternoon.

So come and help in the decoration of the May Bush and join in the craic on the day. If anyone gets peckish, they can always adjourn to the castle for refreshments at a reasonable cost.
