A 28-year-old man was arrested in connection with this investigation and appeared before a special sitting of Portlaoise District Court on Sunday.

Pitulan Anghel, of Flat 9, Portlaoise Road, Mountrath was charged with having a false ID.

Garda Aodhan Ó Flaithearta told Judge Catherine Staines that when asked for ID Anghel produced ID in the name of Reitan Muntean.

Garda Ó Flaithearta said when he got the light in the flat turned on it was evident this was not the correct ID.

A UK driving licence with a photo of the accused in the name of Pitulan Anghel was found on another person in the flat.

The teenager was understood to be in the company of 28-year-old Pitulan Anghel and they were believed to be travelling in his silver E-class Mercedes.

Neta is originally from Romania and speaks both English and Roma. Anghel is also from Romania and speaks the same languages.

Gardaí wish to thank the the public for their assistance. No further action is required.
