A Mountrath man has been given a suspended sentence for burglary.
Padraig Dunne, Knockanina, Mountrath, committed the burglary at Anything Goes, Mountrath Industrial Estate, on September 20 last year.
Inspector Aidan Farrelly gave evidence that gardaí discovered a number of tools hidden in a trailer at Dunne’s house which had been stolen during a burglary. Dunne initially said the tools had been left by “someone else”, but during interview he made full admissions and said he did commit the burglary.
Insp Farrelly said that there was €500 of various items, including nail guns and angle-grinders.
Dunne had 36 previous convictions.
Judge Catherine Staines recommended community service, but she was informed that Dunne had already performed the maximum 240 hours’ community service in the last six months.
The judge imposed a ten-month sentence, suspended for two years.
