Protected status given too liberally

Cllr James Deegan says protected status is placed too liberally on Laois buildings.

“It is having the opposite effect on streets, adding to dereliction. People are reluctant to take them on, because it can double the cost. There were six agencies in the last project we were involved in,” he said.
