Stakeholders say on shelter

Where to put the bus shelter? That was the question at Mountmellick Town Council monthly meeting last Thursday night.

In a letter to the Council, the Deparment of Transport said it was anticipated that funds to provide a bus shelter in the town would be available this year. Cllr Stephen Lynch: “It’s great news. We have finally got word that we are getting it (shelter).”

Cllr Marc Connolly thought the new facility should be located in the town centre and Cllr Bobby Delaney wondered how the Town Link service would connect with the bus shelter.

Chairman Cllr Paddy Bracken: “That’s something we can thresh out. We should consult with all stakeholders.” Cllr Rosemary Whelan concurred.
