Arrest made in relation to disappearance of Aoife Phelan

Gardai in Portlaoise have this afternoon (Monday) detained a man as part of the investigation into the disappearance of Laois woman Aoife Phelan.

The man in his mid 20s has been arrested in relation to the murder of Aofie Phelan who was last seen in Portlaoise at 8.10pm on October 25.

The man is currently detained in Portlaoise Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Extensive searches have taken place since her disappearance in an effort to locate the missing woman.
