Ballyfin road bends review

LAOIS County Council have given a commitment to review safety measures on the bends in the road at Ross, Ballyfin.

The assurance was given at last week’s meeting of the Portlaoise Electoral Area, in response to a motion by Cllr Catherine Fitzgerald.

“It’s a very dangerous part of the road and hopefully they can address it,” she said.

Cllr Willie Aird agreed that the stretch of road was very dangerous.

“People like to walk on the road, but people have to come into Portlaoise for safety to walk,” he said.

Cllr Aird suggested that the council should install rumble strips to help reduce speed on the road.
