Equality Tribunal to close
The office of the Equality Tribunal is to close down in Portlaoise following an announcement by the Government. and the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government.
Staff from the Equality Tribunal, the FÁS office in Birr and the Department of the Environment Community and Local Government in Tubbercurry, Co Sligo, will be redeployed to other public service employers nearby, as part of measures approved by the Cabinet on Wednesday.
Around 90 State employees will be affected by the cancellation of the three projects.
The three centers were described as “no longer viable” in a review. The leases on their accommodation are to be terminated to save money.
Projects where the advance parties in temporary accommodation will remain where they are include the Data Protection Commissioner in Portarlington, the NCCA in Portlaoise, and the Department of Agriculture in Portlaoise
