Foghorns in council chambers

Problems with the microphone system in Laois Councy Council chambers were a source of embarrassment last week.

Each time a speaker switched on their microphone, they had to switch it off during the monthly County Council meeting, due to the loud noise emanating from the speakers.

Several councillors complained and Cllr James Deegan said the previous week’s meeting was an embarrassment.

“We had the Midland Regional Authority here last week, it was an embarrassment. They wanted to know where we got the foghorns,” he said.

The councillors managed to continue with their meeting without using microphones.
