Green man sought in Stradbally

Stradbally Cllr James Deegan wants the council’s mechanical streetsweeper for his village.

“The eastern area, Emo and Luggacurran seem to the be poor relation for resources. Portlaoise has the Green man, and Abbeyleix have mechanical sweeping brushes. Here in Stradbally we have a man with a brush, when he sweeps dog foul, that brush is contaminated. When Laois Hunt meet, their horses leave their calling card and that has to be cleaned up,” he said.

Cllr Ray Cribbin said the Green Man was needed in Portarlington too.

“The only man we have is Denis Lalor, who is out sweeping at 5am,” he said.

“Street sweeping is done, it is not possible to extend it,” was the reply.
