Dancing the night away

A most successful subscription ball in connection with the King’s County Hunt took place on 23rd January at Lisduff House, by kind permission of Lord Castletown of Upper Ossory.

The Ball Committee had made the most elaborate arrangements. Dancing took place in two large ballrooms, which were draped in the hunt colours of pale blue and crimson, and the floors of which were specially prepared by Messrs. Lambert Brien, of Dublin, who also had charge of the lighting arrangements.

The floral decorations were very handsome, and were the work of the ladies of the committee. Messrs Williams and Son, of Rathdowney, undertook the furnishing arrangements free of cost, their manager, Mr Jones, supervising the details, in which he was assisted by Mr Morrison. Dancing commenced at 9.30, and was carried on with great spirit until 5am next morning, when a special train conveyed a large number of those present to Ballybrophy, Mountrath, Maryborough, and Portarlington.

Stradbally concert

On tomorrow (Sunday) evening a grand concert and play will take place in the Gaelic Hall, Stradbally. St Joseph’s Band, Mountmellick, will stage the Irish drama ”The Hard Hearted Man,” and the Stradbally Dramatic Club will give the side-splitting farce, “The Resurrection of Denny O’Dowd.”
