Man hit by car still critical

A LOCAL man is listed as critical after being struck by a car in Portlaoise at the weekend.

The 30-year-old was knocked down at Coote Street at around 1.30am on Sunday, May 20 and suffered a head injury. An ambulance attended the scene and the man was taken to Tullamore Hospital for a scan, before he was transferred to Beaumont Hospital. The road was sealed off while gardaí investigated the scene, but foul play is not suspected.

A spokesperson for Portlaoise gardaí has confirmed that the man remains in serious condition. Anyone with any information on the incident can contact the gardaí on 05786 74100.
