Gardai in Portarlington are looking for the public help in tracing the movements of what they believe was the car used in the suspected gangland shooting in the Laois town this week.

Gardai investigating the murder of Gerard Eglington, aged 27, that occurred in the Kilnacourt Woods estate at 8.30am the Monday, September 24 would again like to appeal for witnesses who may have information on the dark blue Mazda 6. It is understood that the car was abandoned and burned out in Portarlington after the killing.

Gardai have established that the registration number of the car was 05 KY 934 and that it was taken from Auburn Close, Castleknock in the middle of August 2012. Anyone who may have seen this car, in a car park, filling station or other similar location are asked to contact the Gardai in Portarlington on 057 8636774, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

Mr Eglington died after being shot four times in front of his children.
