No phone activity in Aoife Phelan search

In the ongoing search for missing Laois woman, Aoife Phelan Gardai have again spoken to a number of her friends and family, one week after her disappearance.

To date, searches in and around Portlaoise and Mountmellick have yielded nothing, while an examination of her phone records, bank account and Facebook account show no activity since last Thursday night.

Gardaí conducted enquires in housing estates around the Colliers Lane area of the town last Tuesday evening, October 30 where the missing woman was last seen on Thursday, October 25 last.

The enquiries were being carried out as Portlaoise’s Garda Superintendent, Yvonne Lundon, appealed once again to the public for more any information in relation to the missing woman who is aged and understood to be pregnant.

Briefing reporters at Portlaoise Garda Station, Supt Lundon insisted that gardai are still treating the case as a missing persons investigation. However, she appealed to anybody who may have seen anything last Thursday around 8.30pm.

Thanking the public for their help to date, she confirmed that gardai had made a wide range of enquiries in relation to the investigation and she did not rule out any lines of enquiry.

Ms Phelan was last seen when she spent last Thursday evening with a friend from 6.15pm to 8.10pm at a friend’s house in Colliers View estate in Portlaoise.

Aoife Phelan is described as being approximately 5’7’’ in height, slim build, has long blonde/sandy coloured hair and blue eyes. When last seen she was wearing jeans and a knitted jumper. She also has a red bomber style jacket with her.
