Ponds and roundabouts

Water was “ponding” in Emmet St and causing grief to people, Cllr Paddy Bracken told Mountmellick Town Council.

Executive engineer Dermot Leonard said the contractor would “sort that out.”

Cllr Marc Connolly: “Emmet St has been hit so many times with road closures.”

Cllr Bobby Delaney said a businessman had a “very hard time” last year with all the closures.”

Cllr Bracken also asked for an “update” on the proposed pedestrian crossings at the Connolly St roundabout. “It’s long overdue.”

Engineer Leonard said the Council planning section was dealing with the issue and was pursuing the developer. He added: “I can have a report for the next meeting.”

Cllr Delaney called for an better design for the signs at the roundabout.
