Portlaoise mobile phone driver fined

A SCOTTISH woman, living in Portlaoise has pleaded guilty to driving while holding her mobile phone at Naas District Court last Wednesday, January 9.

Nicola Wolfries whose address is listed as 7 Chestnut Avenue, Esker Hills Portlaoise was stopped on July 12 last on the M7 at Hillsborough, Newbridge.

The car’s NCT cert was also out. She explained that the car was a company car but she now has a new car that does not, for the moment, require an NCT.

Judge Desmond Zaidan asked why she did not nominate her employers, as the owners of the car, in relation to the NCT charge. She said she was not aware that she could.

She was fined a total of €450.
