Portlaoise Chinese restaurant robbed

GARDAI are appealing to the public for information, following two burglaries in Laois recently.

At some point during Saturday night, January 29, the Royal China Restaurant on Portlaoise’s Railway Street was broken into. The thieves broke in by smashing the front window of the business, before making off with a considerable amount of money.

On the same night, there was a break-in at the Mountrath Service Station. After disabling the alarm system, the thieves entered though the roof of the building. Superintendent Philip Lyons confirmed to the Leinster Express that nothing was taken from the premises in this incident.

The superintendent is asking anyone who may have seen anything, or who has any information concerning either of these break-ins, to contact Portlaoise gardaí on 05786 74100.
