Punched and kicked on ground in Port row

THERE was a history between a Portarlington man and the man he punched and kicked on the ground, last week’s District Court was told.

John Hennessy, Reval House, Station Road, Port, was charged with assault causing harm at Main Street, Port, on November 22 last year.

Inspector Martin Harrington gave evidence that the injured party received hospital attention and required stitches after the incident.

“There’s a history between them,” the inspector said.

Defence, Mr Quinn said the injuries were at the lower end of the scale and he requested any CCTV footage in the case as well as copies of the garda notebook entries.

Judge Staines remanded Hennessy on continual bail to June 14.
