‘Rapid’ planning decision expected

THE Department of Education & Skills expects a decision from Laois County Council on the planning permission for its new ‘rapid delivery’ model primary schools later this month.

A Department spokesperson confirmed, “The project involving Gaelscoil Phortlaoise, Portlaoise Educate Together NS and Maryborough NS is on the construction programme for construction in 2013 and will be delivered under the Rapid Delivery model.”

Planning was lodged on August 2 and the latest date for receipt of submissions was last Thursday, September 27.
