Safety needed at busy junction

A rethink is needed on the junction of New Road and the N8 Tullamore road in Mountmellick, says local Cllr Paddy Bracken.

He has asked Laois County Council to make safe the junction, which he says gives difficulty for motorists.

“Anyone trying to get back out on the road, going into town. The road needs to be re-aligned. The cemetery wall will not be touched, the width is there in the road. Some sort of roundabout or safety measure is needed,” he said.

The junction, beside Graigue cemetery, is often used by motorists driving between Tullamore and Portlaoise to bypass Mountmellick.
