Stradbally man struck ex-partner

A STRADBALLY man who allegedly punched his ex-partner on two separate occasions appeared before last week’s district court in Portlaoise.

Niall Kehoe, with an address listed at Main Street, Stradbally, faced one count of assault, and one count of assault causing harm.

Inspector Martin Harrington outlined the facts.

On September 24 last year, Kehoe was travelling along the Mountmellick Road, Portlaoise, with his ex-partner in her car when an argument ensued. Kehoe allegedly struck the woman, causing bruising to her eye.

There were similar circumstances to an offence committed on October 1, at the Stradbally Road, Portlaoise. On that occasion, the woman was allegedly struck with a fist or an open hand. She required stitches after the assault.

Defence for Kehoe, Ms Elaine Dunne requested a statements order and the matter was put back to May 7 for hearing.
