Tragic death of Ballyouskill man
The Health and Safety Authority has confirmed that it is investigating the shocking death of a 19-year old man on a farm in Rathangan last Wednesday, October 24.
Adrian Fitzpatrick, from Ballyouskill, originally, died after a slurry agitator fell on top of him shortly before midday on Wednesday, October 24.
He was working on the farm at Drennanstown, Boston Hill, Rathangan which is owned by his maternal grandparents, Mary and John Joe Murphy.
The young hurler’s funeral took place at St. Brigid’s Church, Ballinakill at 11am last Saturday, October 27, followed by burial afterwards in St. Brigid’s Cemetery.
Ballinakill GAA club provided a guard of honour in recognition of the commitment Adrian and his family have given to the club.
His father, also called Adrian, is the club’s current chairman.
A representative told the congregation at the funeral how the young courageous player was fearless on the pitch. He is survived by his parents, Mairead and Adrian senior, brothers Jack and Seamus, sister Marie and his niece.
Given the deceased’s family routes in Rathangan, a large contingent travelled to the funeral from Rathangan. The congregation heard that Adrian was a keen sportsman and was committed to his work and his family.
The celebrating priest said that when word came through to Ballinakill about the accident, there was widespread shock.
Adrian, he explained, loved horses, his work and lived his life as best he could.
