Volunteer for Laois

A NEW volunteer service has been set up through the Laois Partnership Company in conjunction with Volunteer Ireland to source volunteering opportunities from around the county.

To be officially launched in Treo Nua in Portlaoise next week, Volunteer Laois has been set up as part of the Local and Community Development Programme (LCDP). This programme is designed to counter disadvantage and to promote equality and social and economic inclusion. The LCDP programme works with unemployed people, older people, young people, one parent families, people with disabilities, low income families, Travellers and volunteers.

Under the new volunteer scheme, volunteers can find out more about volunteering without having to make a commitment and can get advice and support on opportunities to suit them.

Meanwhile, organisations and community groups can advertise for volunteer vacancies, they can get information, advice and support on working with volunteer staff, and they will receive assistance with volunteer policies and procedures.

The official launch of Volunteer Laois will take place next Thursday, November 15, at 11am in Treo Nua, Harpur’s Lane, Portlaoise.

For more information, contact Laois Partnership Company, Railway St, Portlaoise, on 057 8662732, or email info@volunteerlaois.ie.
