Bomb team defuses Dublin device

Army bomb experts have defused an improvised explosive outside a private home in Dublin.

The Defence Forces described the device discovered in Killinarden, Tallaght, as viable.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team were called to the scene on Wednesday night at around 8.25pm and found an explosive device near a vehicle outside the house. No controlled explosion was carried out.

The explosive was removed to a secure military installation for technical examination, the Defence Forces said. It was then handed over to gardai.

The scene was declared safe just after 9pm.
