Roads closed following two-car crash in Laois

One person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a van and a car crashed into each other near Garryhinch Cross on Tuesday evening.

The Leinster Express understands that the driver of the van was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Roads from Mountmellick, The Commons and other approaches to Garryhinch Cross remain closed.

The crash happened on Tuesday evening and emergency services were at the scene for a number of hours.

Fire crews from Mountmellick, Portarlington and Offaly Fire Service attended the crash as well as gardai.

It is understood that a spinal board was used to transport the injured party.
