O'Moore Street in Mountmellick is completely submerged in water after the Owenass River burst its banks and parts of the town have been completely cut off.

Christle Hair Company is a hairdressers on this street which is in the middle of the chaos.

Michelle Christle who owns the salon said that the damage done is unbelievable. 

"We are trying to organise sandbags ourselves.

"Around 3 o'clock the water came so heavy down the street within five minutes. We had to send people home with colour in their hair.

"The damage done in Mountmellick is unbelievable, people are saying that their houses are destroyed. Myself and my husband are self-employed and it is very worrying just before Christmas," Michelle said.

They resorted to using bags of coal and towels at the front door to keep the water out. 

Christle Hair Company on O'Moore Street shared the following videos which show the chaos that in ongoing on Wednesday evening.
