Rosenallis man urinated on squad car

A young man who shouted profanities at Gardaí and then urinated on a patrol car, had to write an apology and give €100 to the Garda Benevolent Fund.

Darragh Plunkett, Knockanowl, Rosenallis, faced charges of intoxication in a public place, and threatening and abusive behaviour in the District Court last Thursday.

Inspt Aidan Farrelly said Mr Plunkett was a passenger in a car involved in a minor collision in Mountmellick on October 20. “He refused treatment, and was brought as a courtesy to Portlaoise station. He was intoxicated, and used profanity, shouting names. He was asked to leave and while outside he urinated on a Garda car and was arrested,” he said.

Defendant was now back living with his mother, who told Judge Staines there was “no drink in my household”.

Judge Staines warned him of a conviction or prison for any future transgressions.
