Portlaoise AFC could take a big step towards the top of the Leinster Senior League Major Division Sunday table this Friday when they make the short trip down the N80 to play Tullamore Town.

Both sides are right in the shake up with Portlaoise currently second in the division, one point ahead of Tullamore.

However the Offaly side have a game in hand making this game all the more important for Greg O’Dowd’s Portlaoise side.

The sides met early in the season in Rossleighan Park where Tullamore Town left wiht a 1-0 win. Portlaoise will be looking to avenge that result this Friday evening in Leah Victoria Park in Tullamore where the game kicks off at 7.45pm.

Portlaoise come into the game of f the back of consecutive wins over Glenmore/Eblana and CYM Terenure. Tullamore were held to a scoreless draw by Terenure.

Both sides will be desperate for the win to keep the pressure on leaders Liffey Wanderers who have won nine from nine in the league.
