Late double sees Dynamo through

Dynamo Town twice came from behind to edge past hosts Clonaslee Utd on Sunday morning in a cup tie which lived up to its pre-match billing as a keenly contested and all action encounter.

Clonaslee Utd 2

Dynamo Town 3

It was a game that could have gone either way but it looked like Premier Division Clonaslee had done just enough to scrape past until a late brace from the plucky Portlaoise outfit sealed the win for the Division 2 men.

Given the fact that they ply their trade two divisions above Dynamo, Clonaslee would have been favourites to advance, but their league form has been poor all season and this was always going to be a close affair. United started better and for much of the first half they looked to be too strong for Town, but Liamie Marum’s side has a fine sprinkling of footballing creativity in their ranks and they grew in stature after the break to pile more misery on Clonaslee.
