The 2012/13 soccer season was a hugely successful season for the Durrow based Lions Schoolboys.

The U-13 boys team made club history by winning the Eric Wilcox Memorial Cup beating Evergreen A 3-2 in a thrilling final. They went on to beat East End Utd to claim the League Division 1 title.

The U- 12 boys won Division 3 going undefeated with star player Daire Quinn being awarded Player of the Year from the Kilkenny and District league. The U- 11 team were runners up in their division with player James Duggan being awarded Player of the Year from the Kilkenny and District league.

The U- 17’s had a great season and narrowly missed out claiming runners up spot.

The girls teams all got on very well and are improving with every match played. The non competitive teams U-8, 9 & 10’s are busy learning and improving their skills and having fun doing so. .

At junior level the ladies team won their division undefeated and the Youths also won their division.

The committee of Lions AFC would like to thank all the managers, parents and supporters for their help and encouragement throughout the season.

A special thank you goes out to Tom and AnnMarie McCann. We would also like to thank Seosamh Murphy of The Castle Arms Hotel for helping us with catering equipment for SFAI matches.

A huge thank you goes out to Peadar and Bernie Lennon of Peadar’s Bar for their very generous sponsorship of the Junior A, B and Ladies teams. Also many businesses locally have help out with donations of spot prizes etc this season. We are truly grateful.
