Portlaoise girls to compete in European Championships

Two Portlaoise girls Aoife McNicholl and Emer O’Sullivan will, at the end of June, travel to Paris with Midlands United Powerchair Football Club to compete in the European Champions Cup.

Two Portlaoise girls Aoife McNicholl and Emer O’Sullivan will, at the end of June, travel to Paris with Midlands United Powerchair Football Club to compete in the European Champions Cup.

Midlands United recently won the All-Ireland League title, and as the top club in Ireland are representing their country in the competition. Matches will be played on a round robin basis with group winners then going forward to a knock out stage. Midlands United, in their group, will face stiff competition from top club teams from France, England, and Belgium.

The club are currently fundraising to help with the costs of getting the team and specialist equipment to Paris. A Pub Quiz Night will be held in Grellan Delaney’s on 21st June next, all welcome and any support very much appreciated.
