Portlaoise internationals honoured at Mansion House

Brian Farrell from Portlaoise proudly received his international cap on Thursday, September 27 in the Mansion House. Brian took part in the 2010 Street Leagues World Cup which was held in Brazil.

Brian Farrell from Portlaoise proudly received his international cap on Thursday, September 27 in the Mansion House. Brian took part in the 2010 Street Leagues World Cup which was held in Brazil.

In attendance was the Dublin Lord Mayor, Mexico Embassy Official Carlos, Aaron O’Callaghan from Dublin City Council and Head Coach Mick Pender. The 2010 team were congratulated on their achievement of finishing 6th in the world which led to the 2012 team being seeded.

On the night the 2012 squad was unveiled which includes Portlaoise’s Ollie Carroll who will travel to Mexico on Wednesday, October 3. The official from the Mexican Embassy wished the team well.

Both players have represented Portlaoise Street Leagues at the All-Ireland Street Leagues finals where they were selected for the international team. Laois Sports Partnership, Laois Partnership and Laois County Council/FAI would like to congratulate Brian on receiving his international cap and wishing Ollie every success in the upcoming World Cup.
