Nuparc host end of year party

The Annual Nuparc Wellness End of Year Awards took place recently at Treacy’s Bar and Restaurant on The Heath.

A large gathering of athletes and their families enjoyed some great food and a very enjoyable evening. Nuparc Wellness was set up in Co Laois in early 2014 by husband and wife team Ian and Teresa Wilson, and has grown from strength to strength in this short time.

They coach middle and long distance athletes, largely from Laois clubs, and the improvements in these athletes has been vast.

In the past year, the group has recorded 327 PB times (from 400m to Marathon), 4 International vests, 3 International medals, and 20 National medals. The clubs themselves are reaping the awards also, with many high profile performances from their athletes, and some aspiring performances to encourage the younger club athletes.

On the night the awards ranged from most improved athletes to the most PBs ran, and this sort of recognition and commendation of successful performance in their athletes forms an integral part of the Wilson’s training approach.

From juvenile through to master athletes, the group has bonded well this past year or so, and there is now a wonderful camaraderie evident throughout.

There are currently 30 athletes being coached by Ian and Teresa, and their coaches have set some high standards and expectations from their athletes for 2016.
