Cullohill heading for Feile

Following on from last year’s victory for the boys and silver for the girls at Galway Féile na nGael 2011, Cullohill Handball Club head to Dublin in force again this year in search for the gold and silverware, proudly entering three teams to participate in the competition with one girls team and two boys teams. The girls team consists of Avril Deegan (captain), Emily McGuigan, Rebecca Walsh, Louise Walsh & Eimear Dunphy who will be based in The Sportslink in Santry. The girls will take on teams from Offaly, Kilkenny & Wicklow. Avril represented the club in last year’s Féile in Galway so her previous experience will aid her and her team in Dublin in their quest for All Ireland glory.

The first boys team consists of Barry Deegan (captain), Andrew Dunphy, Liam McNeill, Rory Deegan and Conor Delaney who will be based in Erin’s Isle. The boys will take on teams from Galway, Offaly, Kilkenny & Dublin. None of the players on this team have played at this level before so this will be a huge event for the boys.

The second boys team consists of Tommy Whyte (captain), Padraig Delaney, Eoghan Doheny, Pauric Dunne & Tiarnach Doheny who will be based in the City West Complex. The boys will take on teams from Cork, Wexford, Kildare & Offaly. Three of the players also represented the club in last year’s Féile which saw the team bringing home All-Ireland Glory amazingly with the average age of the boys only 12 years of age.

It is a great honour and privilege for Cullohill Handball Club to have such talented young boys and girls representing the club. They have trained very hard for this event and like previous Féile’s in Clare 2010 and Galway 2011 once again Dublin 2012 is going to be a great weekend for the players and their parents and will be remembered by everybody. Here’s hoping our three teams will be bringing titles home to Cullohill.
