Laois manager Justin McNulty has named four debutants in the team to play Meath in the Allianz NFL Division 2 game against Meath in O'Moore Park on Saturday night.
Eoin Culleton, Robbie Kehoe, Shane Julian and Conor Boyle will all make their first league starts but it is the selection of regular midfielder Kevin Meaney at full-back and regular full-back Mark Timmons at midfield that will raise the most eyebrows.
McNulty has also gone for a new-look half-forward line with John O'Loughlin named at centre-forward and Colm Begley on the wing in what will be their first appearances of the season.
Last year's captain Padraig McMahon starts his first game of the year as well as he is selected at left-corner back while Billy Sheehan and Brendan Quigley will also start their first game of the season.
New Meath manager Seamus McEnaney has named a strong side with a forward line that includes Shane O'Rourke, Graham Reilly, Joe Sheridan and Cian Ward.
Meath are slight favourites to win the game at a price of 4/5 with Laois at 5/4 and the draw at 15/2. In the handicap betting, Laois (+1) are 10/11 with Meath (-1) at 11/10 and the handicap draw at 15/2
