Library Photo Exhibition
Portarlington Library is hosting an exhibition by the Portarlington Arts and Heritage Group titled ‘Portarlington 1993-2013: 20 Years of Change.’ The exhibition consists of a selection of photographs of landmarks and sites in the town taken both in 1993 and 2013 in order to give a then and now perspective on the developments that have taken place over the past 20 years.
The exhibition will run in the library until December 21.

A fundraising night takes place in the Heritage Hotel Killenard on Sunday December 15 at 8pm. Mulled wine reception at 7pm. The night features the Irish Midland Concert Orchestra and local musicians and singers. All proceeds go to Portarlington Lions Club and St Vincent de Paul. Tickets on sale for €10. Pride of Place
A big well done to the community of Portarlington on their award at the annual Pride of Place awards which took place in Derry on Saturday November 16. The town took a runner up award in category 5, which is for populations of over 2,000 people. The people of the town worked extremely hard to present their town in all its glory last July when the judges came to town. All the hard work paid off for all the voluntary groups in the town.
The Portarlington Lions Club annual Christmas bonanza will take place on Sunday December 15 from 2-5pm in the Community Centre.
There will be lots of stalls to browse around and plenty of gift ideas too. There are even rumours that a certain man in a red suit will make an appearance on the day, and a choir or two to get you in the mood for Christmas shopping! Arch Club Dancing

Well Done to St Patrick’s Boys National School on achieving their Active Schools Flag. They raised their flag on Friday November 15 in the school yard. The school band provided the music. Well done to all the boys who took part. The school now has two Green Flags and an Active Schools Flag.
