STRADBALLY PLAYGROUND TOILET

The construction of the toilets and the disability toilets with baby changing facilities at the playground and activity park has now been completed as phase one of the development. Phase two will commence shortly and will consist of flood lighting and cctv cameras. The works are expected to be completed by mid December. The committee would like to thank Casey Construction, Stradbally who carried out the building contract. They also wish to thank Eamonn Clancy of the Stradbally Community Employment Scheme for the manner in which he tended the playground.

CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVE LIGHTING

The Stradbally Tidy Towns Christmas tree draw will be held in Dunnes on Saturday, December 21. The committee are holding a meeting on November 19 in St Mary’s Hall at 8pm to plan the switch on, etc of the tree and would invite you to attend to hear any new ideas for this year’s tree. Tickets are only €2.

COMMUNITY GAMES SILVER CIRCLE

The Community Games silver circle series continues in Dunnes on Saturday night for the next four weeks. Winners November 16 were €200 Oisin Ramsbottom, and other winners included Donal Horgan Sheamie Hewitgt, Deirdre Duff, Leah Dwyer and Helen McEvoy.

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS DEMONSTRATION

Stradbally Flower and Garden Club. A magical Christmas demonstration of flower arrangements for the home will be given by Claire Feeney (AOIFA) in St Joseph’s Hall on Wednesday, December 11 commencing at 8pm and all arrangements will be raffled at the end of the night and sit down supper will be served.

NIGHT VIGIL TO KNOCK

There will be a bus travelling from Stradbally for the Night Vigil to Knock for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on Saturday, December 7. The bus will leave at 6pm and contact Annie O’Neill 0578625323.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL

The annual church gate collection takes place on Saturday, 7 and Sunday 8 December at all masses. Your support would be greatly appreciated. All monies collected in the parish stays in the parish.

If you have any unwanted items please drop them into their shop at Main Street.

TROCAIRE EMERGENCY APPEAL

The Trocaire Emergency Appeal for Philippines and Syria last weekend resulted in St Colmans school €1,000, Vicarstown €801, Timahoe €580 and Stradbally €1,442.

FREE DEMENTIA WORKSHOP

A free dementia workshop will be held in St Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise on November 28 from 6-8pm.

ST COLMANS BUMBER HAMPER DRAW

The St Colmans National School Christmas bumber hamper draw will be held on Friday, December 20 in the school. Tickets €2 and book of 11 for €20.
