On October 7, the Mountrath Community School golf team of Jack Corr, Shane Conroy and Jack Claffey, succeeded in qualifying for the Leinster schools final with an impressive score of 141 points.
The regional final was held in the Heath Golf Club, in Portlaoise. The team came second out of 15 schools from the region. Jack Corr scored 73, Shane Conroy scored 68 and Jack Claffey scored 79, the two lowest scores securing qualification for the Leinster final of this schools golf competition.
Jack Corr said that the team were so thrilled to qualify for the Leinsters, and the competition was really enjoyable.
Shane Conroy said that they would go on to practice hard, as the standard will be very high.
Jack Claffey said that it was a great achievement for the team and the school.
Best of luck to the golfers in the Leinster final, which will take place later in the year.
