Fiann Fáil AGM
The AGM of the Ballacolla Cumman Fianna Fáil held on Friday January 24. Michael G Phelan welcomed the good attendance including Sean Fleming TD who spoke on the house hold and water charges. Councillors Brendan Phelan, John Joe Fennelly also Ger Phelan. The minutes of the last AGM were read. Dep Fleming addressed the meeting. Cllrs Brendan Phelan and John Joe Fennelly all spoke on the local elections. Cllr Phelan said the Roads Programme will be out in the next couple of weeks Ger Phelan also addressed the meeting. There question on road repair and foothpaths, Election Of Officers took place , President Liam Hyland, Chairman Michael G Phelan, Vice Chairman Barry Hyland, Secretary Noreen Byrne, Treasurers Noel Shiel Pat Kavanagh. All members present were elected on the committee. Votes of sympathy: the Shiel Family on the death of Tom, the Kavanagh Family on the death of Ben, Breen Family on the death of Mrs Breen, Brendan Phelan and family on the death of their mother. Michael Phelan thanked all who attended.

New Years Day Walk
The 10th Ballacolla New Years Day walk was a real success with huge numbers turning out. Along with the walkers, vintage, pony and traps and high nellies the hunt were present. Special guest was Fiona Dowling who recently won a Gold medal at a World Power lifting event. Thanks to the stewards for their work on the day, the St Patrick’s Hall Committee for refreshments, also to David Lalor for his continued support. €1,425 was raised and donated to national schools and the senior citzens fund.The school voucher winners were Victoria Dobbyn Clough NS and Joe Cannon Ballacolla NS.
