Durrow Abbeyleix Macra are holding a table quiz in Dec’s bar, Durrow on Friday November 14 at 9pm. There will be a raffle, prizes and finger food on the night. It is a non member night so all are welcome.
The Parish lotto with a new jackpot of one thousand seven hundred and fifty euro was not won last week, the small winners were €30 Mairead Woods, €25 Gerry Gilmartin, €20 Betty Walsh. The lotto of November 17 will be held in Lennon’s Bar, Durrow with a possible jackpot of €2,050. All tickets must be handed in before 9.30 pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot.
The Annual General Meeting of Durrow Development Forum will be held in the Library, Durrow on Thursday night November 13, 2014 at 8.30 pm. All are welcome to attend.
Giant T.V. broadcaster French 24 who command a massive 45 million weekly viewership have visited Bob’s Bar at the Old Bridge in Durrow. They visited the Jack Moyney VC Snug in the museum pub where they did film a report which will be aired on France 24 as a part of their Remembrance Day documentary. The World War 1 documentary will be broadcasted on the week starting November 09, 2014 worldwide and can be seen on Sky TV at a channel near Sky News. The documentary will include an interview with publican Bobby Campion, whose grand-Uncle is Jack Moyney. It will be repeated nearly every night of remembrance week and can be seen on T.G.4 after midnight every night.
Cullohill/Durrow Flower and Garden Club are holding a Gala Christmas Flower demonstration in the Castle Arms Hotel on November 24,2014 at 8 pm. Demonstrator is Richard Delmer and all are welcome to attend. Admission is €10 and mulled wine and mince pies will be served.
The Annual General Meeting of Durrow IFA will take place on Thursday night November 13, 2014 in the Presentation Centre, Durrow at 8 pm sharp. IFA National Treasurer Ger Bergin will attend this meeting. All IFA members are requested to attend this important meeting.
Cullohill ICA monthly meeting for November was well attended. Votes of sympathy were extended to families of Late Maura Lowry, to Sheila McEvoy on death of Sean, to Mary Kavanagh on death of her father Robert. The guild congratulated the organisers for the wonderful gathering of the past pupils of Cullohill and Gurteen Schools. Congratulations were extended also to Avril Deegan on her success in Bahrain Marathon and to Jim Ryan on his ploughing success in Ratheniska. Members attended the Kathleen Gorman Lecture in Abbeyleix and cookery demonstration in Telford’s. Well done to Ann Delaney on being short listed for to represent Laois in “Celebration Cake” contest in an Grainin. Mass for deceased members will be held on Saturday November 15 at 8 pm in St. Tighearneachs Church. Raffle won by Agnes Barnaville, Mary Bergin and Nancy Phelan. Next meeting Tuesday December 02 at 8 pm.
