Portarlington Social Services would like to announce the start on Friday February 5 of a social event for the elderly in their centre, Link Rd. This will take place each Friday from 12pm to 3pm where you can come and meet other people to chat and have a cuppa, maybe a game of cards, a game of bingo or a sing song.

Irish Guide Dogs
The Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind would like to thank most sincerely all who contributed to the recent church gate collection in Portarlington & Killenard. A total of €914 was raised. Also thanks to our volunteers who collected on both days.
Also a huge thanks to everyone who bought Christmas cards and calendars to support this very worthy cause.
St Patrick’s Day Parade

St Patrick’s Boys NS enrolment will take place on Tuesday January 27 at 7.30pm in the Boys School in Patrick St. The enrolment packs will be distributed to the children.

Condolences to the family of Helen Kennedy (nee Prendeville) Patrick Street and formerly Lixnaw, Co. Kerry who passed away on January 2 at Oakdale Nursing Home. Helen was predeceased by her husband Owen a number of years ago. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Geraldine and Angela, sons Eugene and Desmond, grandchildren, her extended family and friends. Tickets are now on sale for the County Board draw 2015. This is O’Dempsey’s primary source of revenue for the year, with our club keeping almost three quarters of the price of each ticket sold. The tickets are our single most important fundraiser for our club and members are urged to support the draw as much as possible.
O’Dempsey’s annual dinner dance and medal presentation takes place on Saturday February 14 in the Heritage Hotel Killenard at 7.30pm sharp.
