NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH MEETING
A meeting of the Stradbally Neighbourhood Watch will be held on Thursday, January 22 in St Mary’s Hall commencing at 7.30pm.
THE LATE BIRDIE KEALY (NEE DOYLE)
The death occurred on Saturday, January 10 of Birdie Kealy (nee Doyle), Crannagh, Stradbally and formerly Drummond, St Mullins, Carlow, peacefully at home after a short illness. Wife of the late George and mother of the late Peter. Deeply regretted by her sons John Joe and James, daughters Kathleen and Betty, sister Mary, sons-in-law Noel and Frank , daughters-in-law Christine, Margaret and Annmarie, sisters-in-law, her fourteen grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Her remains were reposing at her residence on Saturday, with removal on Sunday to St Joseph’s Church, Ballyadams, and following requiem mass on Monday, burial took place afterwards in St Joseph’s Cemetery, Ballyadams.

Congratulations to Fergal Scully, Oughaval Athletic Club who is the double Leinster u/17 high jump champion, winning both indoor and outdoor titles last year. Fergal is this year’s winner of the Athletic Leinster Star Award as the top male juvenile athlete in Laois for 2014.

PARISH MISSION STRADBALLY
The Parish Mission in the Church of the Sacred Heart will be held from Saturday, March 21 to Friday, March 27 directed by the Vincentian Fathers.
PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
A parish council meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 28 in the parochial house commencing at 7.30pm to discuss same and meet up with people giving the mission.
Laois Arthouse presents ‘The Clearing’, an end of residency exhibition by artist Lorraine Walsh. Opening 1.30pm on Thursday, January 22 at the Laois Arthouse, Court Square, Stradbally. All welcome. THE LATE PATRICK DALY
The death occurred on Sunday, January 11 of Patrick Daly, Fossey Upper, Timahoe. Beloved brother and uncle, deeply regretted by his brothers Andrew and Sean, sister Pollie, sister-in-law Kathleen, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. His remains were reposing at the Convent Chapel of Rest, Stradbally, until removal on Monday to St Michael’s Church, Timahoe, and following requiem mass on Tuesday burial took place immediately, afterwards in St Michael’s Cemetery, Timahoe.
SENIOR CITIZENS DINNER
The annual Christmas dinner for senior citizens will take place in the Seven Oaks Hotel, Carlow on Sunday,January 25 at 1pm. Bus will leave Social Services Centre, Stradbally at 12pm. Anyone attending who requires transport should ring 8625161, 8625055 or 8625149. All senior citizens from Stradbally, Timahoe, Vicarstown and surrounding areas are welcome to dinner and family members can join them afterwards at party.

LAOIS SAYS NO TO WATER CHARGES
Protest on Saturday, January 31 commencing at 2pm at Laois County Hall.
Stradbally PlayHouse Drama Club for 8 to 12 year olds, started back on Tuesdays in St Mary’s Hall 3.15 – 4.45pm at a cost of €45 per ten week term. All aspects of drama covered – voice, movement, improvisation, physical theatre and performance skills. No experience needed, just a willingness to give it a go. DRAMA FOR adults
Stradbally PlayHouse Drama Workshops has started back in St. Mary’s Hall 7.30 – 9pm at a cost of €60 per ten week term. Through various drama activities, participants enjoy their own playfulness and experience the joy and freedom that comes from group interaction.
